8B's Art Walk - Wongi
Mr Montejo took 8B and 7G on an Art walk through Christchurch to see the graffiti walls in the CBD.
On the walk we meet Wongi who did a graffiti wall of a book that represented a scrapbook because graffiti artists use scrapbooks to draw ideas that they might flick through later and think, 'That's a great idea! I shall paint that on my next wall/canvas.'

Post-quake creativity
Mr Montejo took 8B and 7G on an Art Walk through the CBD to view all of the great art that has appeared in our city amongst the rubble.

What makes a good leader?
During our Leadership Week every student completed research about a brilliant leader. We had a great range from Martin Luther King, Malala Yousafzai and even PewdiePie. The girls were asked to list 5 adjectives to describe their chosen leader. We made a Wordle from the list - did you think these words would be the most important attributes?

Year 8 Leadership Week
This week all Year 8 girls take part in workshops to help build Leadership Skills. The day started with kiwi cricketer, Rachel Candy, talking to us about leadership in sports. She told us about the importance of commitment, listening, teamwork, charisma and being there for others. In the afternoon Roanna Funcke introduced us to Bucket Drumming. This will help us to work as a team, build confidence and take risks.

Inspirational Start to the Year
Welcome back to 8B for 2014.
We started the year with an inspirational speaker at Assembly. Melissa Pritchard was teaching in Barcelona when she decided she wanted to bike around the world. So far she has been through Europe and Asia. She is slowly making her way back to her home in Canada. Melissa's message to us is to follow your passions and then you will be happy 99% of the time. It was fascinating to hear some of the stories from her journey.
