Science - Optics

To help our understanding of how eyes function we dissected a pig's eye. You could easily see the iris, pupil, retina and lens.

  1. Hi 8B,

I found dissecting a pig's eye really gross so I had to sit out and watch Juliette do it but I found the lens really cool because it worked as a microscope on the newsprint. What part of the eye did you find the most interesting?

  2. Hi 8B,

I really enjoyed the pig eye dissection. The lens was pretty awesome because it was so clear and magnified the text on the newspaper.

  3. Hi 8B,

That was the best science lesson ever!!! Between Moeka, Sarah Bealing, Chelsea and I, we collected 5 lenses (3 of them from the eyes I dissected!). I have to admit though, it was pretty gross cutting the fat and muscle off at the start. How many of you have chosen to be eye surgeons? Do you think the patient would live?

  5. Hi 8B

Did the eyes have a peculiar smell?
